​Driving test steps

​STEP ONE : MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO APPLY FOR A NEW DRIVER'S LICENSE

​STEP TWO : TAKE THE WRITTEN TEST
  • ​A total of more than 20 multiple-choice questions, and you can pass the written test if you answer 14 questions correctly.

  • After making an appointment, go to the DMV. There is a "calling machine" at the entrance, and you can handle it with your number. The office also has an application form, which can be filled out on the spot, remember to bring a pen. Wait for the staff to call your number, show all your certificates and materials, and take a vision test and a written test! ( * Students who are short-sighted remember to wear glasses)

  • After passing the material review and passing the written test, you can get a learner driver's license (Learner Permit)

  • ​The Transportation Bureau will send the Learner Permit after 10 days. Only after receiving the Permit, can you sign up for the road test
    *The fastest time for the road test is: the date of the written test + 10 days to wait for the time to receive the permit. The fastest time is about 17 days take an exam. If it is not urgent, about 20 days after the written test is passed

​STEP THREE: COMPLETE THE LEARN TO DRIVE COURSE

STEP FOUR : MAKE AN APPOINTMRNT AND TAKE THE ROAD TEST

    • If you can’t make an appointment, or you can’t, you can contact Xiaoqiang Driving School to make an appointment
  • You need to pay a $10 application fee for the road test, and you can take the test twice
  • If you fail, you need to pay another $10 to take another two tests

  • ​Materials required for the road:
    • Learner Permit
    • Pre-licensing Course Certification (MV-278) / Driver Education Certificate (MV-285)
    • ​Students without a green card are advised to bring their passport, I20 and other documents

  • Road test content :
    • ​side parking
    • Familiarity with vehicle functions
    • Turn around to check the road during lane changes
    • Stop Sign for more than 3 seconds

  • Test vehicle requirements :
    • Registration and insurance are both within their validity period
    • The front and rear lights, emergency 4 flashing lights, and horn are all normal
    • The working tires and brakes are normal and can be used normally without any abnormalities
    • The window on the driver's side can be lifted and lowered normally
    • The front windshield is not cracked
    • Seat belts working properly
    • The car door can be opened both inside and outside
